ICM Professional Qualifications are suites of nationally recognised units and qualifications which range from Level 2 to Level 5 and provide a benchmark for the credit and collections area of work. The ICM Awarding Body is regulated by the Office of Qualifications (Ofqual) and ICM qualifications are nationally recognised and accredited on the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
ICM Professional Qualifications are designed specifically for people working in credit management and credit related areas, hence its flexible design. Credit is a varied occupation which requires a wide range of skills, in particular the ability to communicate well and work effectively with people. It would be hard to design a 'one size fits all' qualification because credit and collection professionals come from a host of different backgrounds and have differing roles and career ambitions.
If you work in credit, collections or debt management, including money and debt advice, ICM Professional Qualifications will help you improve your effectiveness and career prospects. ICM unit awards and diplomas are nationally recognised and provide a benchmark for the profession. Specialised units and a flexible structure gives the opportunity to build qualifications to suit roles and career ambitions.
ICM Unit Awards
You can either take a single ICM unit or build credit for an ICM Diploma through completion of a selection of units. The Institute records every unit you pass on your Personal Learner Record so that you can show this to your employer/potential employer and identify progression routes. Also you can transfer credit between levels and from other relevant qualifications. ICM Professional Qualifications include a range of credit management, debt collection, collections, and money and debt advice units which vary in size.
Each unit is individually certificated and requires up to six months of learning. Some units involve a final online or written examination and others the ICM assesses by written assignment. An ICM Diploma takes about two years to complete, depending on how many units you take at one time and the amount of credits you transfer from other qualifications.
