If you have a sound level of numeracy combined with good communication skills and an aptitude for dealing with the customer by telephone then you could transfer these skills to a credit role. If your current employer has its own credit department then express an interest in moving into that area so that you can gain practical experience in credit control. Once you have a proven track record in credit it will be easier to find an alternative position with a new employer and embark on your career path.

University graduates often enter the credit profession either by joining a major blue chip where part of the graduate training programme will include some months in the credit department, or with the type of finance/statistics orientated degree that will open doors to a career in credit analysis.
