Report of event:

The Manchester offices of Aon Trade Credit played host to the North West Branch’s breakfast Q&A session on Export Credit on 24 February.

An excellent attendance of around thirty members and guests took part in the discussion with a distinguished panel of experts: Andrew Strong, UK Director of Credimundi; Susan Ross, Chief Executive of Aon Trade Credit and Chris Haworth, Head of Finance at the Falcon Group.

The discussion covered a wide range of export-related topics including support for SME’s new to exporting; use of documentary credits; government initiatives aimed at stimulating exports and the role of banks, credit insurers and UKTI in providing help to exporters in obtaining payments. The group also discussed the response of the credit insurance market to the developing crisis in the Ukraine and other parts of the world which require scrutiny.

The credit insurance industry’s response to the growing crisis in the Ukraine and other areas of political and exchange control risk were also discussed.

The Branch Committee wish to thank the panellists for giving up their time to participate; to Aon Trade Credit for their hosting of the event and to Karen Thornley for providing the catering.
