The Branch was established in the 1960s. Sadly we recently lost our longest serving and possibly our oldest member George Winn, who was a founder member of the Branch. George died on Christmas Eve 2011. The Branch Committee and George's old friends in the Branch send their condolences and best wishes to George's family at this difficult time.
The Merseyside & North Wales Branch covers a wide geographical area, from Preston at the North to Chester and part of Cheshire in the South, plus all of North Wales. We do have Members from most of these areas who attend our meetings from time to time. It is always nice to be able to talk face to face with new faces across the region and talk about the problems on their own 'patch'.
We are very proud to have four members who have gained ICM Meritorious Service Awards; George Winn, Terry Robinson, Arthur Critchley and David Brown. Lynne Mills is a serving member of the National Council. Terry Robinson is also a past National Chairman.
We try to hold, on average, four meetings every year. Around the area where possible but Liverpool has always proved the most popular. A wide range of subjects are presented to interest and entertain.
The Branch has a strong Student membership which is strongly supported by the Committee and the local colleges.
We, the committee, feel that if you miss the meetings you are losing one of the big advantages of being a member of the Institute.
Do try and join us at one of the meetings ...
You will be made most welcome!
