Meeting 20 January 2011

The first public meeting of the newly formed Czech Republic branch was held on January 20. The venue was the IQ restaurant in the Spielberk Office Centre in Brno, Czech Republic and attracted around 30 visitors from Norgren, Edwards Vacuum and PPG Shared Services. We had people coming from as far away as Prague and Cieszyn in Poland . Special guest speaker was Glen Bullivant. In addition we were delighted to receive Mr Martin Slezak, Deputy Manager of Czech National Bank. The meeting was opened by Chairman, Mark Harrison who thanked all the  many parties that helped in the preparation and presented the objectives and vision statement of CZ ICM (details can be found on our website
http://www.icm.org.uk/default.asp?edit_id=1386-70) and followed by Glen Bullivant. Glen outlined the structure and role played by FECMA and then embarked on a presentation about Credit Management playing a key role in the Customer Service function. As always, Glen was highly entertaining and the audience enjoyed his witty but informed delivery. After the break Petr Skokan from ICM training partners BPP spoke about the wide range of flexible credit related training options available followed by Bronislav Panek and Radka Maskova who presented on Deloitte's services in the field of Credit Risk management and the latest updates on local tax legislation .

The meeting closed with opportunities for networking.

Jan Chaloupka from PPG said of the meeting" Glen's presentation was great and very useful. As vast majority of the audience were young people with a lot of ambitions but not that many experiences, it was great to have the opportunity to gain some knowledge and ideas from someone who has been in the business for a long time, has the wisdom, can see the greater picture and is not influenced only about the latest trends (which may appear wrong in the long run). I can appreciate this point of view a lot. It's a bit like young ambitious bankers who never experienced true financial crisis before and thought we are now much cleverer and nothing like that can happen again (and lost fortune in the past years) and the experienced veterans who knew and were able to escape before the house of cards fell down in 2008/2009."

Katerina Sebestova from PPG added" I was pleased to have a chance to attend the first public meeting. I enjoyed it a lot, very interesting and entertaining at once.
I'm looking forward to the next meeting in March"

The next meeting will be on March 31 in Spielberk Centre Brno and we are pleased to receive Philip King, ICM Chief Executive as guest speaker. Representatives of BPP, Deloitte and Czech National Bank will also contribute to what promises to be an interesting evening.

CZ ICM expects to hold meetings every two months in Brno and Prague.  We will be pleased to hear from all parties who would be interesting in supporting us by joining the team, attending future meetings, making presentations and/or sponsoring future events.
